what they're saying... Three
Bean Press is already receiving high praise!
Here's what they're saying....
“Lily + the Imaginary Zoo conveys one of ReadBoston's
key concepts: the importance of the imagination and the heights to
which it can take young readers. If kids can read they can dream and
if they can dream, anything is possible. This story about a little
girl and her experiences with notable Boston animal sculptures
will hopefully encourage other children to read and dream as well.”
—Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino
“The story is inventive, and the illustrations are both
whimsical and colorful. As a Boston native, I loved all the
references to the city. [This] book is really terrific and deserves
a wide audience.”
—Karen MacPherson, children’s book reviewer,
Scripps Howard News Service
“It’s a wonderful teaching tool, a wonderful book to
read to kids, and probably the best compliment I can
think of, last night reading it to my three-and-a-half
and two year old, when they said ‘read it again,
Mom!’”
—Amanda Rosseter, NewsDay, New England Cable News
“This is a great story of a child’s imaginative
adventure through Boston. The authors use five actual
public works of art in Boston to create this adorable
adventure for readers.... I love this magical story
and your child will too!”
—Susan Petroni, Bay State Parent
“Lily and the Imaginary Zoo is a picturebook following
the journey of a peppy young girl through Boston, and
her experiences befriending the city’s most famous
animal sculptures. Color illustrations similar to what
a child can draw and a playful, shout-out-loud
narrative style make Lily and the Imaginary Zoo an
embodiment of wide-eyed, youthful exploration and
creativity. The final page is a simple map allowing
young readers to trace the steps of Lily's rollicking adventure,
in this playful book that begs to be read aloud.”
