Get Started

At Three Bean Press, your options are limitless: Create a detailed art book destined for coffee tables everywhere; a vibrant children’s book with an audio companion; a flash fiction e-book to alight countless eReaders; an heirloom cookbook of family recipes; or a glossy publication to commemorate a company milestone…. Here’s what we’ll need to know to start you on your publishing journey.
Is your title a cookbook, novel, children’s book, art book? Knowing this will help us find the perfect details for your book.
Print Run
How many books would you like? We recommend a minimum of 250 copies for black-and-white books and 1,500 copies for color books for the best pricing, but you should also consider warehousing before you place your order. Provide us with three print-run quantities so that we can show you a range of prices and you can analyze the per-unit cost—it goes down as the print run goes up.
Physical Size
How big will your book be (i.e. 6” wide x 9” high)? While our printers can create books of all sizes, there are certain trim sizes that are most wallet-friendly. These are: 6” x 9”, 7” x 10”, 8.5” x 11”, 9” x 12” (landscape or portrait orientation), or 6” x 6”, 7” x 7”, 8” x 8” or 9” x 9” (square).
Do you want hardcover or paperback? A dust jacket?
Page Count
The approximate number of pages your book will be when it’s printed and bound. Most page counts are feasible, but some numbers are most economical. Give us your best estimate, and we can help you fit your book to the ideal size.
Paper Quality
Glossy or matte? Heavy stock? Recycled content?
Looking for black and white or full color? With or without images?
Unusual details
Is there anything special your book will require? Cutouts, embossing, spot varnish, perforated pages, etc.?
Domestic or overseas
Do you have a preference? Domestic printing has a faster turnaround time, overseas printing is more cost effective.
